Draft guideline: Accounting for carbon sequestration from tree plantings
In late 2022, Climate Active sought feedback on a new draft Guideline: Accounting for Carbon Sequestration from Tree Plantings (draft guideline).
The draft guideline is designed for businesses seeking to include carbon sequestration within a Climate Active carbon account.
Under Climate Active, a carbon account typically measures sources of greenhouse gas emissions only. The draft guideline explains how businesses can also measure carbon sinks from trees and shrubs they have planted, without the creation of offset units. It could be used for both organisation and product certifications under Climate Active.
The following documents were included in the consultation and can be accessed via the links below:
- the draft guideline: Accounting for carbon sequestration from tree plantings
- a consultation paper, which seeks your feedback on specific questions and any general comments
- a privacy notice, which explains the purposes for which we collect your personal information and how your information may be used or disclosed.
Comments on the consultation closed Friday 14 October 2022.
Climate Active is reviewing the feedback received. We will provide an update on the Guideline in due course.
